BU stages Computer Animation show30 September 2008
The National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA), based in our renowned Media School, stages its postgraduate degree show this Friday 3 October at Framestore – Europes largest computer animation studio. The show will feature the work of over 50 graduating students from our MA in 3D Computer Animation, MA in Digital Effects and Masters By Project courses, with productions played continuously throughout the afternoon in the studios screening theatre. Since its establishment in 1989, the NCCA has become the UK's leading centre for computer animation research and study. The Centre enjoys our highest research rating and has pioneered both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in computer visualisation and animation. Our graduates now dominate the industry and have had their skills featured on most, if not all of the biggest films in recent years, including the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy, the 'Harry Potter' series, 'King Kong' and 'Happy Feet', 'Shrek', 'Madagascar' and many others. For the past two years, '3D World' magazine has rated the NCCA as the best place to study computer animation in the UK. The publication also rated the Centre as number eight in the world. For further information about the event please contact John Macey on jmacey@bournemouth.ac.uk. Refreshments will be available in the adjoining bar area and there will also be the opportunity to meet with NCCA staff and the graduating students whose work is on display. DVD copies of the NCCAs latest show reel will be provided along with booklets containing the contact details for our most recent cohort of graduates.
