Head of Admissions at BU contributes to a Guardian supplement

2 October 2012

Karen Pichlmann, head of admissions at Bournemouth University, has contributed to The Guardian’s Time to Choose student supplement.

The supplement is a guide to applying to university, and Karen is featured in an article about picking the right university.

Her advice is to make sure you choose something you like.

“Three or four years is a long time if you aren’t really interested,” she said.

But, the article continues, it can be difficult to choose between so many joint, combined and unusual options in the 132 undergraduate courses offered at Bournemouth University.

It suggests that good research is the key to picking the best course for you - making sure you’ve done the right subjects at school to get in, that you fit the criteria and grade requirements and visiting at least three open days to get a feel for the universities you apply to.

Karen adds that students should also apply early - especially if the course admits through interviews or if they want a place in halls.
