Mental Health Awareness Week 2012

Image of a Keyhole in a man’s head BU is running numerous events to mark World Mental Health Day on Wednesday 10 October 2012.

Bournemouth University is working in partnership with Dorset HealthCare, Poole Community Mental Health Team, Dorset Mental Health Forum and East Dorset Mental Health Carers’ Forum to deliver a number of events marking World Mental Health Day on Wednesday 10 October 2012.

A wide range of events and activities will take place between the 8 - 16 October. Please see the Mental Health Awareness Week PDF to view the list or visit the microsite. Highlights include:

  • Monday 8 October: Beach walk from Bournemouth Pier to Branksome Dene Beach Hut
  • Tuesday 9 October: Talk on Anxiety disorders: ‘How to Diagnose, How to Help’
  • Wednesday 10 October: Tea and Talk for staff
  • Thursday 11 October: Talk on ‘Dispelling the myths about self-harm' 
  • Tuesday 16 October: Talk on 'What’s in a name: Labelling and stigma in mental health'.

Information stands run by the Dorset Mental Health Forum, the Samaritans, Rethink, LINks, Richmond Fellowship, Barnardos, CAMHS, Future Roots, BHCA, Dorset Race Equality Council, I*EAT, First Point, CRISP, Gateway and the BU Carer/Service User Partnership Group will be held over both campuses during the week.
