12 June 2010

Universities Week logo Universities Week aims to engage the public in higher education's often unsung and unheard success stories.

BU is proud to support Universities Week 2010 (14-20 June) – a celebration of the essential role the UK’s universities play in supporting the economy, culture, sport, health, the environment and much more.

The week presents a great opportunity to find out more about BU and many of the ‘hidden’ stories that make the University so successful.

There are many reasons to be proud of the University:

  • BU has experienced a dramatic rise in the UK league tables to reach new heights of excellence and external recognition;
  • National and international awards have turned the spotlight on superb performances by BU students, staff and graduates;
  • Bournemouth graduates continue to be highly sought after by employers including more than 55 from the BU-based National Centre for Computer Animation who contributed to the success of Avatar, the highest grossing film of all time;
  • The University is also producing world-class research and was the fourth most improved UK University in terms of research quality following the most recent national assessment.

To explore a number of other reasons to be proud of BU, visit the University’s special 'Ten Reasons' website.

The new Bournemouth Research Chronicle (BRC) is also available online to share the University’s contribution to knowledge and showcase the talent and dedication of BU’s internationally-recognised academics. The BRC highlights the multi-disciplinary aspect of the University’s work in three areas: Green Knowledge Economy; Creative & Digital Economy and Well-being across the Lifespan.
