| Professor John Vinney's tour of India
Bournemouth University’s (BU) Vice Chancellor Professor John Vinney is visiting India next week to undertake a tour of academic institutions in the country. Professor Vinney said: “A key part of BU’s strategy is to develop long lasting relationships with key institutions across the globe. These are partnerships based on academic synergy, research and student / staff exchanges. I’m looking forward to meeting with my Indian counterparts to talk about these opportunities.” Professor Vinney will visit Hindustan College of Engineering in Chennai to discuss joint research opportunities and student progression with Vice Chancellor Dr Sarukesi, Deputy Director Mr Salim and Professor Asokan. Next John will travel to Southern Mumbai to meet with the President of Jai Hind College, Mr Advani. They will develop existing plans for summer schools and student exchange programmes and discuss top up and post graduate opportunities for Jai Hind students studying engineering and media. The final institution on John’s list has particular relevance to BU. Whistling Woods is Asia's largest Film, Television, Animation and Media Arts institute. The 20-acre campus is based in Mumbai's Film & Television Production centre Filmcity. John will discuss exchange possibilities and opportunities for Whistling Woods diploma students to complete a final year degree course at BU. Throughout his visit John will also meet with BU Alumni who live and work in India and will talk to Indian students about what they value most in a UK education. John added: “We have some very successful Indian BU alumni and I’m looking forward to meeting with them to find out their thoughts on the BU student experience. Our feedback shows that Indian students have performed very well at BU and seem to adapt easily to the UK education system as it has many similarities.” Related Links:
