Vice-Chancellor visits China
Vice-Chancellor of BU, Professor John Vinney, arrived in Beijing this morning for the first leg of his tour of China.
Scheduled for the visit, which aims to promote research and learning partnerships with Chinese institutions, are a range of meetings with academic leaders, alumni and students.
“A key part of BU’s strategy,” Professor Vinney explained, “is to develop long lasting relationships with key institutions across the globe. These are partnerships based on academic synergy, research and student / staff exchanges. I’m looking forward to meeting with my Chinese counterparts to talk about these opportunities.”
Both BU and the Communication University China have a shared passion for animation so Professor Vinney will meet with the President there, Professor Su Zhiwu and the Dean of Animation, Liao Xiang Zhong.
Professor Vinney will then meet with the Party Secretary of Beijing International Studies University, Mr. Pei Feng, to discuss delivery of a Ministry of Understanding with BU’s School of Tourism.
Next he’ll be reunited with recent BU guests from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology who won last year’s Dreamlab competition and then he’ll fly to Zhuhai to meet with Vice-President Professor Ailan Fu and Dr. Chunyan Gan of Beijing Normal University.
Alongside Professor Vinney’s activity, BU’s International Officer for China, Chris Davis, will attend the Education Fair in Beijing, Stephanie Allen from the Media School will deliver a guest lecture, Dean of BU’s Media School Stephen Jukes will hold a guest lecture and Student Q&A and Dr Alex Tattersall from BU’s Business School will give a talk entitled ‘Value of UK Education’.
