BU launches ‘world-class’ MBA1 July 2008
The Bournemouth MBA, one of the first in UK to offer industry sector specialisms, has now been launched and applications are being received for September. The core MBA course features comprehensive study in business and management, as well as the unique opportunity to focus on one of five industry-sector specialisms: Global Business Operations, Media, Financial Services, Tourism and Public & Community. BU’s Professor Chris Brady, Dean of the Business School explains: “The Bournemouth MBA is a new, innovative course underpinned by the Business School’s recent investments in resources, estates and staff. “We have recruited top-notch academics with the experience, expertise and drive to deliver the highest standards of business education, including research, professional practice and consultancy. This demonstrates our commitment to developing a world-class MBA.” Karl Bygrave, Operations Director at Lush Cosmetics, studied for his MBA at BU. He said: “An MBA was both a way of checking how my experience stacked up, and a validation, leading me to be far more confident in my own ability.” “It has benefited me enormously in my current role. The MBA helped me in the appreciation of management accounting and corporate governance, among other disciplines.” Dr Charlie Wilkinson, Head of Executive Education at the Business School, concludes: “The Bournemouth MBA will enable you to develop and grow as a manager, and by offering industry specialisms, build on what you have already learned and achieved.” The Bournemouth MBA is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). Upon graduation, MBA professionals will be granted Member grade status. The Business School is also a member of the European Foundation in Management Development (EFMD). The course is offered on a full-time basis as well as part-time delivery allowing for simultaneous work and study.
