Sony delivers first HD studio to BU31 October 2007
Our TV studio has opened in time for the new academic year, following a multi-million pound refurbishment of the renowned Media School. Sony’s bespoke design is the first campus-based facility of its kind in the country. It enables our students to gain practical experience with the latest equipment the industry has to offer, including High Definition video production and a managed post-production environment. Our Media School is the largest centre of professional higher education for the media industries in the UK. It’s firmly established as a major training and education centre for the media industries, with endorsements as the UK's only Centre for Excellence in Media Practice (as designated by the Higher Education Funding Council for England) and an accredited Skillset Screen Academy "We are very pleased to be working on this exciting project to enable Bournemouth to retain its position as one of the UK’s leading video production training facilities," said Mark Grinyer, Sony Professional Solutions Europe. “The HD studio will equip students with the skills they need to be become the producers of tomorrow and learn first hand with the latest leading HD equipment the industry has to offer.” BU has purchased Sony HDC-1500 portable cameras that offer advanced HD Digital Signal Processing to enable students to capture high-quality images on the move. Sony’s professional flat-panel LMD video monitors will offer students a choice of critical content-management devices for reviewing footage, previewing materials or editing video. Stephen Jukes, Dean of the Media School, said: "This is a major investment for BU and underscores our commitment to ensuring that students work with the very latest industry-standard equipment".
