BU Tops Tourism Table2 May 2007
In the Guardian newspaper’s annual University Guide, we were placed ahead of the field for Tourism, Transport and Travel courses. The first university to offer Tourism at undergraduate level in the UK, we have a long-standing reputation for the quality of our programmes, which are recognised throughout the industry for producing graduates with exceptional skills. BU courses in Media Studies, Communications and Librarianship also enjoyed top 10 attention, placing ninth. Overall, we improved our institutional rating in this year’s Guardian Guide by 31 places, moving from 77th in 2006 to 46th. The news from the Guardian comes as we launch our third round of senior academic recruitment. Seven new professors – in the Business School, Media School and School of Services Management - will be joining BU, along with several Readers, Senior Lecturers and Lecturers. When this series of appointments is complete, 45 senior academics will have been recruited since May 2006. We’re also actively engaged in one of the UK’s largest recruitment drives for PhD students, with 30 fully-funded studentships on offer across a wide range of subjects.
