BU Celebrates Fairtrade Fortnight22 February 2007
Achieved in 2006, BU's status as a Fairtrade University confirms our commitment to promote the consumption of Fairtrade products. All shops, cafés and refectories on both of our campuses now sell a wider selection of Fairtrade products, and Fairtrade tea, coffee and sugar are now served at internal meetings. For us, achieving Fairtrade Status is part of a University-wide strategy to ensure that students, graduates and staff develop as ‘global citizens'. Fairtrade Fortnight 2007Campus-based activities to support Fairtrade Fortnight (Monday, 26 February to Sunday, 11 March) include: Fairtrade StandPresented by DEED (Development Education in Dorset) featuring a range of materials relating to Fairtrade and further information on DEED. Wednesday, 28 February 2007 Wednesday 7 March 2007 Fairtrade Grower Visit
Fatima will answer questions and discuss how Fairtrade benefits her community. University catering service Scolarest will give away Fairtrade confectionery, coffee, tea etc. Thursday 1 March 2007 Homemade Fairtrade Biscuits and PuddingsHospitality Students (Group 3) will produce homemade biscuits and puddings using all Fairtrade ingredients, available to purchase all week. Monday 5 March – Friday 9 March 2007 Spring Fine Foods Fairtrade Products DisplaySpring Fine Foods will display the full range of Fairtrade products currently available in the Staff Common Room, with free samples for you to taste. Roger Lloyd, Business Development Executive of Spring Fine Foods, will answer also be on hand to answer questions. Tuesday 6 March 2007
