BU to Recruit Senior Academics from Around the World26 April 2007
The previous two rounds attracted outstanding academics from Japan, Australia, Scandinavia and the USA, as well as the UK, and we're confident that this success will be repeated in the third round. We're running a further international press advertising campaign to attract high-calibre academics with the track record, credibility and drive to help implement our Corporate Plan. Seven new professors – in the Business School, Media School and School of Services Management - will be joining us, along with several readers, senior lecturers and lecturers. When this series of appointments is complete, 45 senior academics will have been recruited since May 2006. The recruitment drive follows the appointment of Professor Paul Curran as Vice-Chancellor. Since taking up his position in the autumn of 2005, Professor Curran has launched an ambitious plan to develop high-quality academic programmes geared to the professions. A key objective of the plan is to ensure that most academic staff engage in research, enterprise and professional practice and create an environment where students learn from those who are themselves learning. Professor Nick Petford, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise) said: “These are exciting times at Bournemouth University. We are committed to developing the University so it will continually offer a high-quality student experience. We welcome the new and gifted staff who are joining our drive to create the BU of the future.” Related Links:
