Vote to Make BU Grad 'The People's Choice'

Phil Robinson Our graduate Phil Robinson is seeking support in the form of online votes to help him win a national award.

Phil is one of five finalists in the ‘Creative’ category of the national Daily Mail / Lloyds TSB Enterprising Young Brits 2006 competition which recognises people who have turned their ideas into reality. In addition, the public can vote for its favourite finalist who will win a special ‘People’s Choice’ award with both prizes announced on Tuesday, 14 November during national Enterprise Week (Nov 13-20).

Since he graduated from BU in 2001 with a degree in Product Design, Phil – from Newbury in Berkshire - has set up his first business, 'Zorin Innovations Limited' to support the development of his final-year university project. Phil designed a new type of bicycle pump and last year exchanged contracts with the multi-national company 'Dahon California Incorporated' to see his revolutionary invention enter volume production and begin global distribution.

With expert advice from the UK Patent Office and further support from Bournemouth University's commercialisation unit, Phil’s 'BiologicTM ZorinPump' is now being manufactured under license by Dahon for the world-wide original equipment and retro-fit accessory markets. It has just gone on sale in the UK and United States.
