BU Opens Campus-based Crime House
Furnished like a normal domestic residence, Rose Cottage will allow students from the University's undergraduate and postgraduate forensic programmes to carry out full-scale simulated crime scene investigations and protocols. There are also plans to work closely with the emergency services and civic groups who can benefit from the opportunity to use Rose Cottage to practice and observe practical investigation techniques.
Mrs Walters, who received an Honorary Doctorate from BU in 2005, was enthusiastic about the facility, pledging to return to undertake a course herself. The official opening also featured a simulated crime scene investigation undertaken by Archaeology and Forensic Science students Zoe Kirkwood and Hannah Gay, who are studying Forensic and Crime Scene Science.
