Last call for entries for Poole Literary Festival’s New Media Writing Awards, sponsored by Bournemouth University. |
The closing deadline is fast approaching for entries into Poole Literary Festival’s New Media Awards. Entrants should submit their work by midday on Wednesday 15 September.
Bournemouth University, well-known for its excellent courses in Multi-Media Journalism and Interactive Media Production, has teamed up with the prestigious arts festival to bring two new categories that celebrate online writing talent.
The winners of ‘Best New Media Writing’ and ‘Best Student New Media Writing’ will win an Apple iPad and £250 at a glitzy ceremony on Sunday 31 October.
Jim Pope will be delivering works shops throughout the festival. He said: “We are asking all entrants to create an engaging and interactive narrative, through the use of digital technologies […] We are looking for good storytelling (fiction or non-fiction) written specifically for delivery and reading / viewing on a PC or Mac, the web or a hand-held device such as a mobile phone. It could be a short story, novel, documentary or poem using words, images, film or animation with audience interaction.”
The judges will be looking for an engaging and satisfying narrative or poem that demonstrates innovative use of new media. Accessibility and interaction will also be considered.
Entries should be submitted by email to prize@poolelitfest.com by midday on Wednesday 15 September.
