CIPR awards two fellowships to McKenna Townsend PR

Two BA (Hons) Public Relations graduates announced as fellows of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

Graduates from the UK’s longest established PR degree, BA (Hons) Public Relations at Bournemouth University, have just been announced as Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

The CIPR are the largest body of its type in Europe for the professional for PR practitioners in the UK, implementing a code of conduct, representing its members and raising standards through education and training.

This prestigious mark of recognition has been awarded to Matthew McKenna and Sarah Townsend who founded their own PR Company McKenna Townsend PR in 2003.

Since conception McKenna Townsend PR has catapulted into success winning a plethora of gongs including PR Week’s own One to Watch award in 2009 and a grand total of three Gold awards, including Outstanding PR Consultancy, at the 2009 CIPR Wessex Pride Awards, making McKenna Townsend PR deserving of their status as the leading PR consultancy in Dorset and Hampshire.

As co-MD McKenna spoke of his teams’ contribution to the title: “Our team at McKenna Townsend PR work tirelessly to promote excellence and professionalism in the PR industry.  We continue to strive for higher standards in everything we do as PR professionals which leads to a better understanding of the positive impact PR can deliver for business, organisations and individuals.”

The award recognises McKenna and Townsend’s outstanding achievements and contribution to the Public Relations industry and CIPR institute, with only 6 other new Fellowship awards appropriated to PR professionals around the UK.

As CIPR Fellows McKenna and Townsend will lead by excellent reputation of professionalism and practice for the institute.

CIPR President and Fellow Paul Myrea said: “Being named a Fellow of the CIPR is recognition of professionalism and experience. Most importantly, it is recognition from peers in the industry. I am delighted to welcome the new Fellows of the Chartered Institute and we look forward to harnessing their expertise to promote the industry and its practitioners.”

McKenna, co-MD with Townsend of McKenna Townsend PR spoke on behalf of their newly acclaimed status of CIPR fellows, “We are delighted to have been awarded the Fellowships and would like to thank our peers in the industry for nominating us. We are very proud to be recognised as Fellows of the CIPR.”
