BA (Hons) Marketing Communications students organise this year’s Mike Warne Annual Marketing Communications Lecture. |
A team of nine final year BA (Hons) Marketing Communications students at Bournemouth University have put their skills in to practice through organising this year’s Mike Warne Annual Marketing Communications Lecture.
The event is being held in Kimmeridge House and takes place on March 7. It’s the sixth consecutive year the lecture has been held at BU and it is a key date in the event diaries of both BU and The Chartered Institute of Marketing. Drinks company Little Miracles are sponsoring the event, as well as providing refreshments for the guests.
All aspects of the event have been organised by the students, from securing speakers, sponsors and marketing activities to selecting the subject matter - which involves looking at how brands can best utilise sponsorship to boost their image.
The Keynote Speaker at the event will be Jeff Dodds, who is the Executive Director of Brand and Marketing Communications at Virgin Media. Jeff will discuss some of the lucrative sponsorship deals Virgin Media are involved with, such as their associations with V-Festival and the recently announced tie-up with Britain’s Got Talent.
Also speaking will be Jackie Fast, Managing Director of Slingshot Sponsorship, who will share her expertise on the role sponsorship plays in developing the perception of a brand.
BU student Nikki Hayward, who is the team’s PR liaison for the event, says the group have relished the opportunity to organise the lecture “This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience organising a high profile business event and to work with fellow professionals.”
She added: “It gives us all a chance to show what we can do and how we can showcase our skills and knowledge gained over the last three and a half years.”
Guests are invited to arrive at 6pm for refreshments and an opportunity to network with speakers and fellow marketing professionals from the area before the lecture.
Booking is essential for those wishing to attend the event.
