Hope FM and Bournemouth University (BU) join forces in new award scheme.

Community radio station Hope FM has become the first local company to support an innovative new award scheme for journalism students at BU.

Second years on the BA Multi-Media Journalism course competed to produce the Best Radio Bulletin, Best Short TV Documentary and Best Youth News Programme of their year group.

Television lecturer Vanessa Edwards said: “We have some incredibly talented students on our courses and this has been a great opportunity for them to show off their work.”

The radio award was sponsored by managers at Hope FM who have offered the winning student the chance to undertake a short work experience placement at the radio station.

Hope FM is a community station broadcasting to Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and the surrounding areas of Dorset and Hampshire.

Winners were chosen by their classmates and the award ceremony took place at BU’s Media School last week. Hope FM’s Sales and Marketing Director Sheena Daymen was the guest of honour and presented Hope’s award.

Vanessa said: “We’re particularly grateful to Sheena from Hope FM for getting involved with the award for the Best Radio Bulletin. We really hope this will become a long term relationship.”
