Sofronis Efstathiou to take part in Guardian Careers chat

11 April 2011

Computer Animation at BU

BU animation expert to guest on a panel for a live Q&A session on the Guardian website.

BU’s Sofronis Efstathiou is set to answer a live question and answer session on the Guardian Careers blog, where he will provide advice on how to break into the visual effects industry.

Sofronis, who is Joint Associate Dean & Postgraduate Framework Leader for the Computer Animation Academic Group at Bournemouth University, will offer advice regarding careers in visual effects as well as discussing the different courses available at BU to anyone hoping to follow this career path.

Before becoming Associate Dean and a Senior Lecturer on the MA in 3D Computer Animation course, Sofronis enjoyed great success in the Films and Games industries and worked on projects such as “300”, “Happy Feet” and “Fable 2”.

He is also part of the National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA) at BU, which was held up as a 'shining example' by the National Endowment for Science Technology and Art (NESTA).

The NESTA report also found that around 50% of graduates working in the visual effects industry in the UK are from Bournemouth University, which further highlights how valuable advice from Sofronis will be.

The chat is taking place at 1pm on 11 April over here.
