A BU student has been voted Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) National Student Representative of the year for 2011.
Francesca Larkin, a BA (Hons) Public Relations student, was awarded the accolade ahead of 29 fellow students from around the UK.
Speaking to the CIPR, Francesca said: “to prove I was Student of the Year I had a range of tasks to perform, including promoting student membership to course members and liaising with the Wessex CIPR group.”
The CIPR also set out briefs for representatives to complete, including creating full marketing and event campaigns.
“I was also responsible, with another student, Jessica North, for organising a student event” Francesca added “and that provided me with the practical knowledge and skills required in events management.”
The CIPR is the professional body for UK PR practitioners and, with 9,500 members involved in all aspects of PR, is the largest body of its type in Europe.
