Professor Timothy Darvill from the School of Conservation Sciences has been made a member of the prestigious Deutsches Arch√§ologisches Institut in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the study of European prehistory. He was one of 15 scholars from across Europe admitted to the DAI at a special ceremony held at the Römisch-Germanische Kommission in Frankfurt on 10 December 2009 as part of the annual Wincklemann Tag celebrations held in memory of the distinguished German classist and antiquarian Johan Joachim Wincklemann (1717–68). The Deutsches Archäological Instiut has overseas research centres in Rome, Athens, Cairo, Istanbul, Teheran, Baghdad, Damascus, Jerusalem, Amman, San’ā, Ulaanbaatar, and Madrid, as well as across Germany in Berlin, Bonn, Munich, and Frankfurt.
