Massive Donation to BU
BU is the first university in Europe to have access to state of the art computer animation software

BU's National Centre for Computer Animation has been selected to trial Massive Prime; the expert computer software currently being used by the large digital effects and computer animation production companies.

Massive Software have agreed to make a total donation to the NCCA worth $1,385,874 USD funding 63 Massive Prime licences as well as support and annual upgrades for 2 years.

Massive Software is a rapidly expanding, New Zealand based company that develops software that is increasingly used by the largest digital special effects and computer animation companies for film production. This software is designed to simulate the interactions between large crowds of artificial actors and was initially developed to generate the animation for the battle sequences of the "Lord of the Rings" film trilogy.

Professor Peter Comninos, the Director of the NCCA, said:

'We feel greatly honoured that Massive Software holds us in such esteem and wishes to collaborate with us in their effort to make their system more user-friendly and student-proof.' He continued, 'the availability of this software to our teaching and research staff, and to our students will give them an edge over the competition. We hope to conduct some collaborative research with Massive Software once our relationship becomes better established.'
