Scriptwriting Degree Show See the best BA and MA Screenplays |
The second combined undergraduate and postgraduate Screenwriting Degree Show will be held at Rada's Vanbrugh Theatre later this month.
The event will be attended by media professionals - producers, directors, script editors, development personnel, representatives of professional organisations such as the UK Film Council, Skillset and the Writer's Guild, as well as staff and students from The Media School and other academic institutions.
The highlight of the evening will be rehearsed readings by professional actors of the best screenplays written by students from The Media School's undergraduate and postgraduate scriptwriting courses during 2004-5. Each student will introduce his or her script, and there will be handout material available for guests to take away and peruse. It is hoped that this will be an enjoyable social event as well as one beneficial to students in helping them make contact with people in the industry.
Alan Plater, Bourenmouth Media School's Visiting Professor in Screenwriting, has lent his name to the "Alan Plater Screenwriting Prize" and will be there in person to present the prizes to the writers of the best BA and MA screenplays of the past year. The prizes will consist of six-month development deals with major independent companies.
Laura Irving is this year's undergraduate winner and Caroline Bannock has won the postgraduate award.
The "Alan Plater Screenwriting Prize" is supported this year by the independent production companies Working Title and Kudos.
Anyone wishing to attend please contact Caroline Bannock or Pamela McConnell for further details.
