Thoroughly Modern Media School Exciting refurbishments and transformations |
Extensive building work and refurbishment is radically changing the look of The Media School.
"The School is now one of the leading media schools in the UK, with a Centre for Excellence and a Screen Academy, and at last we have a building which reflects this – a creative centre for collaborative work, in a lively, modern, visually interesting environment," said Chris Wensley, Director of the Centre for Excellence in Media Practice.
"With the new extension completed, our next challenge was to improve the environment of the building. As a start, the Centre for Excellence commissioned photographs with a local/ media theme, as well as plasma screens playing news and student work, and email and information points on all floors. The next stage will be the development of the ground floor facilities."
A new café, TV studio and reception area are all being built, and students' work will also be displayed in a special new area on the ground floor.
Of particular importance is the new TV studio, which will be a focus for collaboration in the School, bringing together TV, interactive, scriptwriting, music, computer animation, public relations and journalism students to work in an industry-standard facility.
The Media School - setting new standards for excellence.
