Two MA Digital Effects graduates have been acclaimed by the Houdini software community for creating “some of the best student work they have seen”.

Johnny Galloway and Mark Wainwright both graduated in 2005 after having co produced their animation project 'Short Lived'. Utilising both CG and live action footage, the pair worked tirelessly to create their story about Deedar, the toy Robot, trying to get home.

Being part of the National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA) they were able to use cutting edge facilities and software such as Houdini and Mantra to accomplish exceptionally realistic modelling, shading and lighting.

The American software company Side Effects Software Inc have recently featured Johnny and Mark’s work on their website, highlighting the detailed procedures and original techniques both accomplished whilst making their film. Side Effects Software Inc, have twice been honoured for their technology by The Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences (Oscars) and are leading experts in their field.
