A BU researcher in Psychiatric Social Work will be discussing the disturbing results from his controversial research at a public lecture this month.

BU's Professor Colin Pritchard will explain the results from his extensive research into Psychiatric Social Work at an open lecture on Wednesday 22 October 2008, 6pm, on Lansdowne Campus.

In the lecture, titled 'Contributing to Society & Medicine: Social Work Research 2003-08', Professor Pritchard, from our School of Health & Social Care, will explore his results from research studies into topics such as:

  • Youth suicide
  • Catholicism and Islam
  • Wessex Teenage behaviour- drugs, drink and under-age sex
  • Child Protection and the Psychiatric Interface
  • Effective Social Work
  • 9/11 and public health

Professor Pritchard, who has a reputation for being a lively and at times controversial presenter, will also present findings from research into the Cancer death rates in the UK – a study which revealed evidence of the NHS out-performing the USA.
