Bruce Grant-Braham, Director of the School of Tourism's Motor Sport Research Group, has been commissioned by specialist publisher Veloce, to write two books about the history of one of Britain's fastest motor racing circuits.

"Motor Racing at Thruxton in the 1980s" will appear on bookshelves towards the end of 2011 and "Motor Racing at Thruxton in the 1970s" during 2012.

Bruce has followed racing at the circuit from the 1970s to the present day and was delighted to received Veloce's backing especially as the books will make extensive use of his personal library of photographs.

"Thruxton has been instrumental in the careers of Formula One drivers such as Jochen Rindt, Ronnie Peterson, Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell, Mika Hakkinen, Damon Hill and Jenson Button," says Bruce, "and it has been quite an experience looking back at the evolution of motorsport at the circuit closest geographically to Bournemouth University."

Further details of the two books may be found here.
