Academics from BU have secured funding to set up a Digital Hub at the University.
The Hub is an emerging centre within the University which will provide a one-stop point of contact for the skills and knowledge at BU related to the digital and creative economy.
The centre will allow easy access to details of our consulting services, online content advice, funding opportunities (including Knowledge Transfer Partnerships), training, Continuing Professional Development, elearning, digital consumer profiling, usability testing, online advertising and more.
The project is funded by the Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF), which aims to support and develop innovation, research and enterprise in universities and foster knowledge transfer activities with industry partners.
The Digital Hub is being led by Philip Alford, a Senior Lecturer in Tourism & Hospitality Marketing, and Retail Lecturer Corinna Budnarowska, both from the School of Tourism.
Philip said: "When local and regional companies, big and small, want to know more about how to engage with the creative and digital economy we want them to think of BU."
Philip and his team aim to connect with businesses through a series of consultation exercises to find out how they use digital communication technologies in business. They will then build up a network of the expertise and resources that University staff can offer in response to fulfil these needs which will be showcased on an interactive website which businesses can access.
On Tuesday 16 November BU will host the Back to Basics with Email Marketing event, to show business professionals how to proactively communicate with existing and prospective customers.
Guest speakers include Paul Anderson, Strategic Consultant with Emailvision and Jessica Stephens, E-Marketing Manager with Filofax.
The free event will run from 8am to 11am at BU's Executive Business Centre. To book your place please visit our Business Services section.
Regular networking and thought leadership events surrounding the digital economy are planned. If you would like to receive details of these events please contact cbud@bournemouth.ac.uk
