Following the success of last year’s Research seminar series held by Bournemouth University’s (BU) School of Applied Sciences, we have expanded the number and range of topics for 2011/12.
From next month, we have invited some of the UK’s leading experts to speak on a range of ecological and anthropological and related research themes, including counterfeit medicines, the evolution of running in humans and more.
All staff, students and other interested parties are invited to attend the series, which runs until March 2012.
Dr John Stewart, Lecturer in Environmental Reconstruction and Environmental Change at the School of Applied Sciences, is organising the series. He said: “They’re all topical issues from significant individuals in their field, all of which relate to lines of research conducted at BU”.
The first in the series is given by BU’s new Senior Lecturer in Environmental Sciences, Dr Genoveva Esteban, who took up her post this term. Her lecture ‘Cryptic biodiversity: Microscopic Life Out of Sight Out of Mind’ takes place on 11 October.
Dr John Stewart added: “This is an interesting subject that is often overlooked and we have the opportunity to hear from an expert in this critical field.”
The lectures are free to attend and all take place in CG04, Christchurch House, Talbot Campus. Each one runs from 4 - 5 pm. Please contact Gill Seaton for more information and to book a place.
