Dr Esteban, previously of the Queen Mary University of London, has been appointed as a new Senior Lecturer in Environmental Science. She’ll bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the School of Applied Sciences.
Some of her main research interests include microbial ecology, taxonomy and functional groups of free-living protozoa in fresh waters and soils and marine habitats in both coastal waters and the deep sea.
Examples of research conducted by Dr Esteban include her strategic research on biodiversity at the microbial level in order to understand and predict the functioning of aquatic and terrestrial systems. Along with this, she has significant experience in assessing the performance of sewage-treatment plants.
Dr Esteban will start at BU in September.
