Bournemouth University (BU) Maritime Archaeology lecturer, Dave Parham, shares his expertise with television’s Dr Alice Robert on BBC2’s ‘Digging for Britain: Prehistory’.

Dave is the nominated archaeologist for a project based about half a mile off the coast of Salcombe in South Devon, where the South West Maritime Archaeological Group have uncovered what is thought to be one of the oldest shipwrecks in Britain.

Over 300 artefacts have been recovered, including swords and jewellery dated to the Bronze Age.

Ingots of tin have also been uncovered, which are evidence of the earliest tin trade in this part of the world.

During the programme Dave shares his opinion on the shipwreck, which he believes was a skin boat with a wooden frame.

You can view the footage using BBC iPlayer. Dave appears about 46 minutes in.
