BU’s Professor Adrian Newton has given a presentation at the prestigious BBVA Foundation in Madrid.
Professor Newton was personally invited to talk at the event, which was held in connection with the International Year of Forests, and the European Day of Parks; events which seek to raise the profile of protected areas across Europe and generate public support for work which helps to preserve these areas.
Much of Professor Newton’s research specialises in the impacts of biodiversity loss, and societal responses to the biodiversity crisis and he has a particular interest in analysing the biodiversity dynamics of forest landscapes.
This expertise made him a perfect candidate to speak at this event which sought to address how forests might best be conserved, given the current threats of global change.
Professor Newton was involved in a press conference at the event which has resulted in significant coverage within the Spanish media.
This has been a great success for the BBVA Foundation, which seeks to address challenges which face contemporary society and promotes knowledge as the most effective tool with which to do so.
