Ecology academic is made professor

Ecology academic, Richard Stillman, from Bournemouth University’s (BU) School of Applied Sciences has been made a Professor.

Richard is currently researching how changes to the environment affect protected coastal bird populations. His recent work has been used to advise on the ecological impact of the proposed Severn Barrages, to set shellfishing quotas in the Burry Inlet and Morecambe Bay, and to assess the impact of disturbance from people on birds in the Solent.

He lectures on the MSc Biodiversity Conservation and the BSc Ecology and Wildlife Conservation.

Richard joined BU from the Natural Environment Research Council’s Centre for Ecology and Hydrology. He completed his BSc and PhD at the University of East Anglia and is a member of the British Ecological Society and Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour.
