Dr Anita Diaz, a Senior lecturer in Ecology at Bournemouth University, has spoken out about the proposed sale of Forestry Commission land.
The government's proposal, which is currently under consultation, could see 86,000 acres of local land sold to private organisations.
Dr Diaz expressed her concerns about the effect this would have on conservation, highlighting problems such as the fragmentation of habitats and a lack of knowledge of forest management.
