Newfoundland Joint research has been carried out in Newfoundland

Dr Steve Fletcher of the Centre for Conservation Ecology and Environmental Change has recently returned from a visit to Memorial University, in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada. Bournemouth University and Memorial have a long-standing relationship, which encourages collaboration between the two universities, including through joint research activities and staff and student exchanges. Dr Fletcher’s visit sought primarily to identify potential research collaborations between BU’s Centre for Conservation Ecology and Environmental Change and Memorial’s Department of Geography. As a result of the visit discussions are underway towards research collaboration in the areas of coastal governance, geomorphology, and glaciology. In particular, comparative research related to St. Johns Harbour and Poole Harbour, which have many similar socio-economic and environmental challenges, was a focal point for discussion.
