First year BSc Heritage Conservation Management student, Lucia Fenikova, displays the Roman Purbeck stone mortar she discovered on her second day working on a major excavation near Bere Regis (Dorset) being undertaken by the School of Conservation Sciences.

The excavation, which trains both first and second year BU archaeology students, is part of the Durotriges Project directed by BU staff Miles Russell and Paul Cheetham.

This research project aims to reassess the nature of late Iron Age and early Roman period interaction and the process of Romanization in Dorset.
