Two day course to tackle dyslexia |
Professor Siné McDougall, Chair of our Psychology Research Group, will be running a two-day course to help tackle reading and dyslexia, on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 November, Talbot Campus.
The course aims to identify problems associated with learning to read, the skills required and the stages children go through in order to become skilled readers.
Professor McDougall, who has carried out a number of reading research projects, ha
s taught postgraduate courses for teachers and worked with Dyslexia Action and the Dyslexia Association.
"This course aims to provide an insight into how children learn to read and what difficulties they encounter," says Prof McDougall. "By looking at the psychology of reading, we can gain greater knowledge of the skills and support children require. This will enable those helping children to read (parents and teachers) to recognise the best ways to assess, evaluate and encourage reading development."
The two-day course takes place at our Talbot Campus on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 November, 2008 from 10am - 4pm and costs £200 (including all course notes, lunch and refreshments).
