Industry recognition for talented Industrial Designers

23 July 2012

Design students working at BU Prototypes from two BA (Hons) Industrial Design students receive praise from industry commentators and trade journals.

Two final year students from BA (Hons) Industrial Design have had their prototypes and designs reviewed and commended by industry commentators in influential trade journals.

Students at BU design and build their own prototypes as part of their course. James and Matthew’s designs were chosen to be exhibited at New Designers in London, following their debut at BU’s Festival of Design & Innovation.

James Wood created a sewing machine concept called Sue. Core77, read by a global audience of industrial designers, commented that James’ concept was a “fantastic effort” and that James’s design thinking commanded value and respect.

TerminalU featured Matthew Cleary’s “radical new idea” for future plane seating with pod-like rotating seats. Matthew completed a one year industry work placement with AIM Aviation, a British aircraft interior firm, as part of his course.
