BU STRIDEs to keep skills in region

19 August 2008

Business person BU launches STRIDE – a project which encourages graduates to remain and work in the region.

Our Graduate Employment Centre has launched STRIDE, a new project which supports the South West’s economy by encouraging graduates to secure work within the local region.

STRIDE – Striving To Regenerate & Inspire the Dorset Economy – helps to place suitable graduates into companies within Dorset to help complete projects that they don't currently have the correct time or expertise for.

Working with local businesses, STRIDE will promote short-term vacancies to a wide variety of graduates across our specialist schools, helping to find suitable candidates for placements.

The project gives employers the advantages of taking someone on for between one and six months before offering a permanent position, while having a skilled employee who will bring fresh ideas and new concepts to their business.

STRIDE Project Officer Samantha Wilcox said: “It’s a very exciting project and is growing by the day. Word of mouth is starting to spread the news, and with vacancies every month, graduates and local businesses are starting to benefit.”

For further information of how STRIDE can benefit your company please contact Samantha Wilcox on 07515 190798, or visit our STRIDE pages on the BU website.
