BU Victory Secures Plate Final Place

BU football team in action Bournemouth will host the final of the 2007 BUSA Men’s Football Knockout Plate competition after the University’s first team reached the final.

BU’s 2-1 victory over the University of Wales Institute-Cardiff secured the home final on Wednesday 28 March against Sunderland or Loughborough.

Daryl Hunter scored one goal and set up the other as BU overturned a 1-0 deficit during a difficult encounter.

“It was a very tough game but the players showed immense character,” said coach Jason Atkins who is hopeful of staging the final at a prestigious venue in the Bournemouth area.

The BU men’s first team won this season’s BUSA Western 3A Conference with eight wins and a draw in nine matches with a positive goal difference of 34.

The squad’s 28 table-topping points easily gave them the conference title as nearest rivals Gloucestershire 2nds finished a distant second on 16.
