BU Revs Up for Red Nose Rallyoke

28 February 2007

Red Nose Day - The Big One! Chris Moyles and his gang from BBC Radio 1’s breakfast show are headed to Bournemouth University to launch his fund-raising effort for Comic Relief 2007.

Britain’s favourite radio presenter will launch his Red Nose Rally-oke at the University’s night club, The Old Fire Station, on Friday, 9 March.

The celebrity-packed karaoke gig will feature pop sensations McFly and TV presenter Vernon Kay, as well as BU graduate Rachel Jones.

Rachel, who completed her BA (Hons) in Media Production in 1995, produces The Chris Moyles Show which has around 10 million listeners each day.

The Rally-oke roadshow will travel throughout the UK, taking in Swansea, Liverpool, Belfast, Glasgow, Loughborough and London, leading up to Red Nose Day on Friday, 16 March.

In 2005, Chris and his team raised nearly £630,000 for Comic Relief during his Red Nose Rally from John O’Groats to Land’s End.

The Old Firestation The Old Fire Station, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last year, has an established reputation as one of the best student union venues in the country (BEDA Nominated 2004).

Situated in a listed fire station building near the town centre of Bournemouth, TOFS offers a unique atmosphere and an unrivalled diversity of events, attracting people from across the south coast.

In recent years TOFS has attracted some big names for live events, including Bloc Party, The Ordinary Boys, Electric Six, Hard-Fi, Athlete, The Levellers, 2ManyDJs, and Kano.

Tickets for the Chris Moyles Red Nose Rally-oke in Bournemouth are only available from the BBC.
