Animated Success for BU Graduates

Computer-animated shorts by two BU graduates will feature at a major international event this summer.

‘The Itch’ by Joel Green and ‘Fat Chance’ by Ben Jones will be showcased at SIGGRAPH 2007 - one of the world’s foremost Computer Animation Festivals - in San Diego, California from 5 – 9 August.

The pair graduated in 2006 from BU’s BA (Hons) in Computer Visualisation and Animation.

Both Joel’s and Ben’s animations were selected from amongst over 1,000 other entries for the festival where other submissions include work from some of the world’s top producers such as Pixar, Industrial Light & Magic and Dreamworks.

SIGGRAPH (short for Special Interest Group for Computer Graphics) is attended by tens of thousands of computer professionals from all over the world.

Digital innovators, creative researchers, award-winning producers, provocative artists, executives, and engineers are all to be found amongst the attendees.

BU’s National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA) was recently rated as the number one centre for computer animation courses in the UK and Ireland by 3D World magazine.
