Academics from the School of Design, Engineering & Computing will be helping to improve the expertise and career prospects of Kenyan students, thanks to a grant of nearly £60,000.
Dr John Kanyaru, Lecturer, Software Engineering and Dr Reza Sahandi, Associate Dean, Academic Development and Resources, received funding from the British Council, under the Education Partnership Africa (EPA) scheme.
The funding has created a partnership between BU and Kenya for the first time. The University will be working with the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technology at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT), Kenya.
The two-year project aims to enhance the undergraduate curriculum for software engineering students by delivering practical workshops and seminars, helping improve graduate employment prospects.
Commenting on the new education partnership, Dr Sahandi said, “Colleagues at BU and JKUAT are delighted to be working together. We are looking forward to bringing new ideas and concepts to students, enabling them to be better equipped to contribute both to the economic development of Kenya and globally.”
