Four MA European Tourism Management students from BU have revealed to the local community how new technology can support the sustainability of the tourism industry.
The postgraduate students, based within BU’s School of Services Management, presented their ideas at the Transition Town Fayre, Weymouth, Dorset.
Barbara Bischofs, Tiago Rodrigues, Johanna Sack and Isanne Slui discussed the challenges and opportunities offered by new technologies and explained how the future use of green technologies, such as natural energy supply and alternative fuels, can make considerable difference to the sustainability of the tourism industry.
The presentation, which took place on 7 November, was well received by the audience consisting of Weymouth and Portland residents and tourism industry professionals.
Commenting at the event the students stated: “It was a great pleasure to interact with the community members”.
Dr Keith Wilkes, Dean of BU’s School of Services Management, said: “The students are to be congratulated. Their excellent presentation effort reflects positively on their experience at BU and highlights the strong links between the School, the local community and industry professionals”.
