eTourism expert to deliver public lecture
BU Professor Dimitrios Buhalis will deliver his inaugural lecture at the University’s Talbot Campus on Wednesday 17 February at 6pm. The lecture is free of charge and available to members of the public. Professor Buhalis joined BU in September 2007 as Established Chair in Tourism. Specialising in the interfaces between technology innovations and tourism and travel industries, he is currently leading BU’s eTourism research introducing technology in all aspects of tourism research and education. Based within the School of Services Management, Professor Buhalis is regarded as an international expert in the impact of Information Computer Technology (ICT) in the tourism industry, the management of tourism distribution channels and strategic tourism marketing and management. He is currently Deputy Director of the International Centre for Tourism & Hospitality Research and is leading the global eTourism agenda through his research, conferences and consultations worldwide. Progressing excellence in Management Research and Journal Rankings for the Services Industries In collaboration with BU’s Business School and Kent Business School, University of Kent, Professor Buhalis has co-organised a one-day conference which aims to raise the quality of service industry research. The conference is aimed at tourism professionals and academics and will take place ahead of Professor Buhalis’ inaugural lecture.
