Seen But Seldom Heard Event

19 September 2012

BU stars at Olympic and Paralympic Games Performers from the Victoria Education Centre.

Lecturers from both BU’s Media School and School of Health and Social Care have embarked on a project called ‘Seen But Seldom Heard’ to provide a voice to young people living with a disability. The efforts of everyone involved will be rewarded on Friday 21 September when the young people will showcase their work through a live performance held at BU.

All are welcome to attend and watch the performance which starts at 5pm in the Marconi Lecture Theatre, Talbot Campus, Bournemouth University. The event will include live poetry written and performed by students from Victoria Education Centre, supported by leading performance poets, Lic Torc and Johnny Fluffypunk. This will be followed by the first screening of a short documentary film about the project journey.

VIP’s are expected to attend, including local MP Tobias Ellwood, Councillors and the Mayors of Poole and Bournemouth alongside key local decision makers working in social care, health and education.

The audience will be invited to join the performers and project team for a short drinks reception following the performance.
