UK Universities Delegation 24th - 25th May 2012 |
Dr Kate Welham, Head of the Archaeology Academic Group and Associate Professor of Archaeological Science is representing BU during the two day delegation to Bogota this week.
The event is being organised by the UK Higher Education International Unit in collaboration with the British Council, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
The delegation follows the visit of Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos to the UK at the end of last year which signalled a new era of academic cooperation between the two nations.
The aim of the delegation is to identify areas for partnership between UK and Colombian institutions. Many high ranking Colombian universities are participating as well as key funding bodies including Colfuturo, Icetex and Colciencias.
BU is interested in working with Colombian institutions in the areas of collaborative research, staff and student exchange programmes and transnational doctoral training.
The event will pave the way for a larger-scale HE Ministerial delegation visit to Colombia later this year.
