International officer from the NUS Christina Yan Zhang came to Bournemouth University on February 23 to meet the Vice-Chancellor and student sabbaticals.

She came to discuss the possibility of introducing a full time international officer, and increasing the number of paid placements abroad to increase BU’s international and global reputation.

“I am really here to learn more so we can start promoting BU internationally. I am particularly interested in the students internationalization project, I have been talking to the Vice-Chancellor today and think that will be a really exciting starting point to try to promote more students to have a paid international placement in an international country, and how we can try to enhance the overall global ranking of the university.”

Christina went on to use the examples of Coventry and Warwick University, who have seen improvements with international relations by having a full time international officer.

Vice-Chancellor John Vinney discussed the importance of working closely with the international side of the NUS:

“It’s very important to me to keep the link going with the international wing of the NUS to see how we can work more closely together in future.”
