BU is proud to announce that RELAYS (Regional Educational Legacy for Arts and Youth Sport) has been shortlisted as one of six Olympic inspired projects for the Podium ‘Coubertin’s Olympic Vision’ Award 2012.

BU is one of several other universities that work in partnership with RELAYS, which is a volunteering project that aims to inspire and up-skill young people ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Through a blend of sport and culture RELAYS has delivered a range of events from art workshops to school sport competitions and public festivals, all through a team of trained student volunteers.

Since its beginnings in 2008, RELAYS has worked with inspirational people who have brought to life the spirit and ethos of the Olympic movement and the London 2012 Games. RELAYS has engaged and connected with nearly half a million young people, through education, businesses and communities across the south west of England.

The Podium Awards form part of Universities Week 2012 which takes place from 30 April to 7 May and will recognise Higher Education's contribution to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
