Former NHS director to oversee the development and delivery of BU's HR strategy. |
Jim Andrews is the University’s new Director of Human Resources. He succeeds Michael Riordan who recently retired after 20 years of service to BU.
Jim arrives after 11 years working in a number of NHS organisations during periods of significant change and development. Most recently he was Executive Director – Strategy and Organisational Development for a leading NHS Foundation Trust where he led on the implementation of the Trust’s strategy; business planning and development; organisational development; learning and development; and human resource management.
Prior to this Jim was Director of Human Resources for a Primary Care Trust during a period of financial turnaround and also spent several years working for the Department of Health.
A graduate of the University of Hertfordshire in 1999, Jim is a Chartered Director with the Institute of Directors and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
As Director of Human Resources at BU, Jim is a member of the University Board and Executive Team, with lead responsibility for developing and delivering the HR strategy that will both enable and support the University’s vision. This includes supporting organisational development through providing leadership to organisational change programmes; developing staff engagement and involvement; and leading staff development across the University. He also has responsibility for equality and diversity and health and safety.
