Design and engineering students from BU showcase their designs at a top London exhibition. |
Twenty final year undergraduate students from our School of Design, Engineering & Computing presented their ideas at Europe’s most prestigious talent showcase.
‘New Designers’ is the biggest event in graduate design, showcasing the work, energy and talent of over 4,000 designers across the UK every July at The Business Design Centre – one of London’s most dynamic and vibrant buildings.
Graduates had the chance to meet key people from industry, including: Nike, Tigerprint, Hallmark, Sky, Gleeds and Bombay Sapphire, all offering help from providing funding and awards, to work placements and commercial advice.
The event is endorsed by Rt Hon Gordon Brown MP, who said of the event: “New Designers is unrivalled in Europe in its scope, in its scale and its size; in its ability to attract companies and people who are looking to hire designers in the future. I believe this is one of the most important exhibitions that takes place in London.”
This year’s event came hot on the heels of BU’s Festival of Design & Innovation (FODI) which saw students display over 170 designs and prototypes.
At least six of our student designs are in the process of being patented, thanks to the support of our own in-house commercialisation team. Watch this space for the next best kept secret in the world of design!
